I realized I tuned on windows shadow copies around build 115 after SQX would randomly fail to save or even delete strategies in data banks upon exiting/restarting. Following this I turned on Windows shadow copies (twice per day) which has saved my backside more than a few times allowing me to recover strategies. I am wondering now though, if this could be be the cause of the degradation in SQX performance over time, its just a hunch, but given SQX is busy building and testing custom projects 100% of the time, these shadow copies will always run during peak activity of SQX. Could shadow copies be interfering with the data integrity of SQX files?
Its just a guess/hunch, but the way SQX functionality degrades over time feels like a global issue is impacting . I am reluctant to turn off shadow copies, but if its feasible or certain they are incompatible with SQX, I will disable them. In the event that they are incompatible, what backup software are you using that works alongside SQX and can run without issue when SQX is open and running?
Subject changed from Comparability with Windows Shadow Copies? Degradation of SQX performance over time to Compatibility with Windows Shadow Copies? Degradation of SQX performance over time
I'm looking at the vbugs you reported regarding SQ freezing, it will most likely be another problem.
I personally use SyncBack and iDrive, and I haven't noticed any problems with SQ.
