SQX v125 - 'Save Custom Project Config' very slow 1st time after SQX launch

Hi Mark

Whenever I select 'Save Custom Project Config', for 1st time after launching SQX, it takes ages for the 'Save Custom Project Config' window to open. Typically 10-15min. After opening 1st time in a session following PC reboot, subsequent actions to open this window are much faster. 
Please can you investigate what can be done to improve speeding up how long it takes for the 'Save Custom Project Config' window, 1st time after launching SQX following PC reboot.
I should have reported this issue well before now, as this issue has been with SQX for many months.

I am not able to reproduce the problem. For me it works immediately.


Do you have the same problem when you load the strategies? It opens the same window for choosing files.

No, loading strategies generally works fast; depending upon number strategies in target folder.

Yes, but there is a same function to open the save dialog. We will check it but for now I have no idea why it takes so long for you.

Just to let you know, problem persists with SQX v126. Today it took 15min for 'Save Custom Project Config' window to open.

I am only accessing the local hard drive on my PC. The file is in my OneDrive folder, but I have all OneDrive files set to be permanently available on my local hard drive, not download from cloud as I use them.

I might have found the problem - it could be a Windows issue. It happens on my second computer as well when I have folder with a lot of files.


What helped me was this:

1. open Properties of the folder (using right mouse button)

2. in tab General click on Advanced

3. disable option "Allow Files in the folder to have contents indexed in addition to file properties"


This additional indexing seems to cause big slowdown when Windows first reads contents of the folder.

Thanks for investigation and suggestion. I have tried this approach for the last 2x weekends and performance is much better. Now usually 'Save Custom Project Config' window opens with 10sec, which is great.

Though the folder I 'Save Custom Project Config' files to has never contained many files: currently only 74 Config files only.

Hopefully your suggestion has resolved problem for good.
